Long night

I stayed out in my “woman cave” (as Cian has decided to call it) till almost 12 tonight! I got a bit of a boost when my brother asked me to make a costume for his son for halloween, so I got a bunch more done than I was expecting.

P’s bunny costume

K’s wings (for an owl costume)

I’m really enjoying both the kids’ costumes. K’s is from fabric left over from last halloween, and P’s is a cut-down fleece jumper I got a the SVdeP.

Backpack, Backpack!

For my kids’ birthdays I made them a Backpack each. That’s capitalised, because what I made was a replica of Backpack, a character from Dora The Explorer. I tried to get an official image to link here, but the Nick Jr. website is *terrible*. If you don’t know the character, you can do a websearch. Or look at the pictures below! I am so proud of these bags, and had so much fun making them and I really think they look like Backpack.

I’m going to be better in the future with progress shots. I promise!

timui

timuī

  1. first-person singular perfect active indicative of timeō
    1. “I have feared, I feared”
    2. “I have been afraid, I was afraid”

This is the word I chose to have tattooed onto my arm.

It’s aspirational. I have been afraid of all sorts of things, and I have let that fear get in my way. I’ll see it often, and I hope it will remind me to be brave, to act despite my fear.
